Position Requirements 2.1. Education:
A four-year college degree in any field is required.
2.2. License/Certification:
Must possess a diploma or specialized training and certification in one or more cultural areas, such as Tea Ceremony, Kimono Dressing, or similar disciplines.
2.3. Experience:
Proven experience in delivering cultural presentations is essential.
2.4. Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in public speaking in both Japanese and English.
Ability to plan, design, and deliver instructional content using multimedia tools, including audio, video, and computer-generated presentations.
2.5. Working Hours and Performance Requirements:
The Instructor will conduct two four-hour sessions twice weekly, generally within the program's working hours of 0800-1600. Sessions are typically scheduled on Monday and either Wednesday or Thursday, with flexibility required for special events. These sessions will not occur on federal holidays, and schedules may adjust throughout the year. If fewer than five students are registered for a session, it may be canceled, and the Instructor will be notified in advance.
Description of Work
1.1. Performance Requirements:
Educate participants on various aspects of Japanese culture, including history, customs, etiquette, government, shopping, holidays, art, religion, entertainment, and lifestyles.
Develop and lead specialized lessons, such as tea ceremony demonstrations, kimono dressing, classical dance performances, foreign spouse orientation, and English teaching seminars.
Organize and conduct cultural awareness briefings for visiting teams and new members.
1.2. Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure that lessons align with the mission and objectives of the program.
Facilitate participants' understanding of Japanese mannerisms and lifestyles.
Assess participants' interests and needs, designing tailored lesson plans accordingly.
Develop and utilize audiovisual aids and handouts to effectively meet the program’s objectives.
Collaborate with the program's core compliance expert to evaluate session effectiveness.
Provide assistance in translating forms, applications, and other documents for participants.
